Overview
We’ve rolled out a new set of updates across Typio and Braillio focused on lesson access, reading flow, navigation, braille support, and overall polish. These changes are designed to improve clarity, consistency, and ease of use across the experience.
What’s New
School Edition: Typio or Typio Pro
School Edition users can now choose between Typio and Typio Pro, making it easier to match the experience to the needs of each learner.
For steps on switching versions, see Switching Between Typio Pets and Typio Pro.
Better reading flow for longer prompts
In Typio Pro, if a prompt contains more than one sentence, only one sentence will be read at a time. After that sentence is typed, the next sentence is read automatically. This creates a smoother experience for longer professional and workplace-style lessons.
More intuitive Screen Reader Mode behavior
If Screen Reader Mode is enabled, that button will appear at the end of the menu on future logins instead of the beginning. It is still easy to find when needed, but no longer gets in the way of familiar navigation for returning users.
Left and Right arrow navigation during lessons
During lessons, Left and Right arrows can now be used to move through the typing prompt one character at a time.
End key phonetic reading during lessons
Pressing the End key during lessons will read the phonetic word for the current character.
Visual and layout improvements
We made several small visual refinements to improve clarity and spacing, including better behavior at very large text sizes and cleaner lesson layout overall.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where some school users switching from Typio to Typio Pro were not receiving all available Pro lessons.
- Improved lesson flow to reduce cases where extra keypresses could move users past the score screen too quickly.
- Made additional fixes to Braillio tutorial and lesson behavior, especially around contractions, to improve reliability and consistency.
- Included additional bug fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements.
